LOGISTICS

All conference locations are accessible by BART. Attendees are responsible for getting themslves to and from the events. We have made an effort to ensure that there is plenty of time to get from one place to another, and that all events are easily accessible. For more information, visit 511.org.

BART serves both Oakland and SFO airports.

Below are directions for getting to the major event sites:

  • Wurster Hall, UC Berkeley. Wednesday evening opening, Friday and Saturday Classroom Sessions, Mumford Awards (Saturday night)
  • MetroCenter, Oakland. Regional Dialogue, Thursday
  • Mission Cultural Center, Friday night

The meeting points for the mobile workshops (Thursday) will be posted shortly. The meeting point for the urban game (sunday) will be posted in the week before the conference.

BART to Downtown Berkeley station on Richmond Line. From BART:

Walking: 9 blocks along streets or through campus.  Through Campus, walk east up Center Street towards hills, towards southeast of Campanile, the iconic tall tower.  Campus paths not marked but maps occasionally posted. Can ask directions to Bancroft/College Avenue intersection or to Faculty Glade that will get you within 1 building of Wurster.  Wurster is a modernist/brutalist icon that is hard to miss.

For simpler walking direction, walk south on Shattuck from BART, make a left at Bancroft, and walk east up the hill to College. Wurster will be on your left set back behind the fountain, between the lawyers and anthropologists.
Bus:  from  Shattuck and Allston, northwest side, AC Transit bus 51B; get off at Durant and College. Walk 1 block north on College to campus.
