Thanks to everyone for a successful and stimulating conference!

Now it is time to move forward...

Toward a Just Metropolis was a conference for planners, designers, activists, policymakers and citizens dedicated to a just future for all human settlements.

The conference, hosted by the Department of City and Regional Planning and the College of Environmental Design (CED) at the University of California, Berkeley, June 16-20, 2010, united more than 450 planners, architects, designers, urban activists, educators, journalists, policymakers, academics, students, and concerned citizens from diverse backgrounds across North America. All shared a passion for social, economic, and environmental justice, and were committed to exchanging their experiences and visions for robust civic engagement, innovative planning, and inclusive community building.

We are creating a permanent record of the profusion of ideas, examples, and stories that emerged from that meeting, and are sharing it with a wider audience of professionals, academics, activists, and concerned citizens.

This is why we set up an exciting publishing collaborative project involving five different publications and coordinated by New Village Press.
