Rebellious and burly Dan de Vaul has been housing dozens of homeless people in his San Luis Obispo 72 acre ranch, Sunny Acres, for nearly a decade. While Mr. de Vaul provides much needed shelter for the city's homeless population, multiple police calls and repeated housing code violations have been filed including missing fire detectors and faulty wiring. Mr. de Vaul was convicted of two misdemeanor code violations in November and refused a deal for probation and has since been sentenced to 90 days in jail and fined $1,000.
